About this postcard
A long, three-story brick school building with stone-trimmed entrance pavilions and decorative diaper-pattern brick panels, set behind a lawn, hedge and a broad paved street, with a tall flagpole at the right. Benjamin Franklin High School was one of Cedar Rapids' public secondary schools, built in the early 20th century in a Collegiate Gothic-influenced style typical of Iowa city schools of the period. The linen-textured, pastel-tinted view is characteristic of mid-century American chromolithograph postcards.
