About this postcard

Big Stony Beach on Spirit Lake, Iowa, with rowboats and canoes pulled up on the rocky shore beside a low wooden pier. A man in a hat and shirtsleeves stands on the pier while two people sit in a boat, and a wooded shoreline stretches across the water. The writer reports a week's vacation at the lake and fishing so good that they had never seen so many bullheads in one place. Spirit Lake is one of the Iowa Great Lakes, a chain of glacial lakes in northwest Iowa that drew summer visitors for boating and fishing.

Thursday, July 27th. Hello Jake & Eva- We are spending a week up here having a nice time. Lots of fishing- In fact I never saw so many bull-heads in one place. Nor so many game fish. Thanks for your nice letter Jake. Will write you when we get home. Mary & Klewl, still in Auburn. Expect to be called any time. E.L.
