About this postcard

A paved two-lane highway with a double yellow center line follows the Big Thompson River through a steep, rocky canyon. Sheer rock walls rise on both sides, and a small bridge spans the gorge in the distance beneath bare hills. U.S. 34 climbs through the canyon toward Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, a popular tourist route in the mid-twentieth century.
