The card shows Bingham Falls, a waterfall cascading over dark rock ledges in Smugglers Notch, in Vermont's Green Mountains, as the printed captions identify. Smugglers Notch is a narrow mountain pass between Mount Mansfield and Sterling Mountain, and Bingham Falls is a noted cascade in the Stowe area. The pass was historically associated with smuggling during the Embargo Act of 1807.
