About this postcard
A view across a still pond in Franke Park's bird sanctuary, framed by tall tree trunks and autumn-tinted foliage, with white swans and smaller waterfowl swimming among reeds and flowering plants along the near bank. Franke Park, named for the Fort Wayne industrialist and philanthropist Charles F. Franke, was laid out in the 1920s and became one of the city's largest public parks, later home to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. The linen-textured card dates from the mid-twentieth century, when such pond-and-waterfowl scenes were popular park views.
