About this postcard
An elevated bird's-eye view over the rooftops and commercial blocks of Oklahoma City, looking down a broad street lined with multi-story brick buildings, awnings and scattered pedestrians, with church spires and a taller block rising on the horizon. The card labels the scene simply "Bird's Eye View, Oklahoma City, Okla." Oklahoma City was founded in the Land Run of 1889 and grew rapidly into the commercial center of the newly settled territory, becoming the state capital when Oklahoma achieved statehood in 1907; views like this were popular souvenirs of that boom-era downtown.
