About this postcard

A printed birthday greeting card showing a small rowboat drawn up on a still lake at sunset, with a golden-orange sky, dark blue hills, and willow branches hanging from the upper right; the greeting "A Happy Birthday" and a four-line verse appear in the open white space at left. Cards of this style, with a decorative silver border and a sentimental landscape vignette, were typical of the undivided-back era of the early 1900s, when the picture side carried only greetings and the message went on the reverse.
