A small rowboat rests at the edge of a still lake under a sunset sky, with dark blue hills across the water and willow branches hanging from the upper right. The printed greeting "A Happy Birthday" appears at left above a four-line verse wishing long life, few cares, and good luck. Birthday cards like this one used gentle landscape scenes and short rhymes to carry a personal message, a common way to send good wishes in the early 20th century.
