The picture shows a large pink-and-red rose in full bloom with a red rosebud, dark green leaves, and fern-like sprigs against a pale vertically striped ground, under the printed greeting "BIRTHDAY GREETINGS." Such floral greeting cards were common in the early 20th century, when chromolithographed postcards carried birthday wishes.
