About this postcard

A spray of red roses with green leaves and gold outlining fills the center of this birthday greeting, framed by a geometric border in red, blue, and gold. The printed caption reads “Birthday Greetings.” The card was mailed in 1914 to Mrs Harry Colledge in Cleveland, Ohio. The sender, signing herself “Mamma,” writes that all are well, that she has not yet received a letter, and that she will write soon. Floral birthday cards like this were common in the early 20th century, when German-printed greetings circulated widely in the United States.
