The view looks across open fields toward Bishop, a small town of scattered houses, a church spire, and rows of tall trees, with the snow-covered crest of the Sierra Nevada and Mount Tom rising behind. Bishop sits in the Owens Valley of Inyo County, a ranching and farming community settled in the 1860s and named for Samuel A. Bishop, whose cattle ranch once occupied the site. Mount Tom, the prominent peak west of town, is one of the easternmost summits of the Sierra Nevada and a landmark of the valley.
White border; visible halftone/lithographic screen texture; light edge and corner wear.
No postmark. Divided-back linen-era card with white border; light toning and edge wear. Green-ink message written sideways along the left edge.
