About this postcard
A high vantage point above Curley's Hotel looks down on the wide boardwalk and beach at Rockaway Park, New York, where crowds of bathers and strollers dot the sand and the surf line. Tall wooden light and trolley poles march along the boardwalk, and a row of early automobiles is parked beside the hotel's hedged grounds in the foreground. Rockaway Park, on the Rockaway peninsula in Queens, was one of the most popular seaside resorts for New Yorkers in the early twentieth century, served by rail and trolley lines and lined with hotels, bathhouses and amusement attractions.
