About this postcard
A high vantage point above Curley's Hotel looks down on the wide boardwalk and beach at Rockaway Park, New York. Crowds of bathers and strollers dot the sand and the surf line, while tall wooden light and trolley poles line the boardwalk. In the foreground, a row of early automobiles is parked beside the hotel's hedged grounds. Rockaway Park, on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, was a popular seaside resort for New Yorkers in the early twentieth century, served by rail and trolley lines and lined with hotels, bathhouses, and amusement attractions.
