About this postcard

A Northwest Orient Airlines Boeing 720B in flight above a layer of clouds, its white fuselage banded in red and the tail painted red with a small United States flag and the word NORTHWEST. The printed caption bills it as the "SUPER-FAST 720B FAN-JET." The 720B was the turbofan version of Boeing's shortened 707, and Northwest Orient was among the first U.S. carriers to put it into service in the early 1960s, flying it on domestic routes. Cards like this one, printed on the back with the airline's name, doubled as advertising handed out by the line.
