About this postcard
A night view of Boston Light on its small island in Boston Harbor, the white tower sending two bright beams across a moonlit sky while the keeper's dwellings beside it glow with lamplight and the moon's reflection streaks the water. Boston Light, on Little Brewster Island, is the oldest lighthouse station in the United States, first lit in 1716 and rebuilt in 1783 after the British destroyed it during the Revolution. The station long included keeper's quarters like those shown here, and it remains an active aid to navigation in the harbor approach.
