A tree-lined boulevard runs between Wade and Gordon Parks in Cleveland, with a stone bridge over a stream in the foreground and a horse-drawn carriage on the road. Wade Park and Gordon Park were part of Cleveland's expanding park system in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Boulevards and scenic drives linking public green spaces were a common feature of American city planning in this period, and carriage outings remained a popular way to enjoy them.
