Two-story gabled frame tourist home with wide porches, set behind shrubs and trees along U.S. 29 near its junction with U.S. 60 in Amherst, Virginia. The printed heading names it Bowman's Tourist Home, with Mrs. J. E. Bowman as hostess, and lists the comforts offered to auto travelers: running water, bath and shower, innerspring mattresses, steam heat, electric fans, and a free locked garage. Blue ink labels on the photo mark 'Ramsey's room' and 'Matie's room,' identifying where members of the sender's party stayed.
