A young boy in a dark, braid-trimmed bandmaster's uniform and cap stands on a draped box, holding a baton aloft in his right hand beside a wire music stand. The painted cloudy backdrop and careful pose place him in a studio, where children were often dressed in adult roles for comic or sentimental effect. The printed caption "Once again please!" turns the scene into a mock concert encore.
Black-and-white photograph mounted with a wide white border; light toning and foxing on the mount, minor corner wear. Divided-back real-photo card, Davidson Bros' Real Photographic Series (Printed in England), London & New York; printed caption "Once again please!", series 227.9. Undated. No postmark or stamp present. Toned/foxed card stock; faded pencil note on address side; brown ink cursive initials "M. W. J. R. E." lower right, possibly photographer's or sender's signature.
