About this postcard
The card pictures the structure it names as the Breckinridge Monument in Lexington, Kentucky: a tall masonry building with a steep gabled tower rising above a row of storefronts, with a horse-drawn wagon standing at the curb in front. The view is a halftone reproduction of a photograph, printed with a white margin and a vertical publisher's imprint along the right edge. Lexington, in the heart of Kentucky's Bluegrass region, was the home of the Breckinridge family, whose members included Vice President John C. Breckinridge; the card dates from the first decade of the twentieth century.
