About this postcard
A sandy beach curves along the calm Columbia River, backed by a steep, partly bare basalt bluff and dense stands of dark conifer forest; a small boat is drawn up on the sand and its reflection spreads across the still water. The card names the spot as Bridal Veil Beach, a locality in the Columbia River Gorge of Oregon named for the nearby Bridal Veil Falls, and notes that it lies on the line of the Oregon-Washington Railroad & Navigation Company, whose tracks ran along the Oregon bank of the river. The copyright line dates the view to 1908, when such river beaches were popular excursion stops for rail passengers.
