Bridal Veil Falls drops in a tall white ribbon through a rocky, tree-lined gorge. Conifers and dense undergrowth crowd the banks, framing the water in deep shade. The falls sit on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, one of the many cascades that became roadside attractions after the Columbia River Highway opened in the 1910s. The new scenic road brought early automobile tourists to viewpoints and falls like this one, helping make the gorge a signature drive in the Pacific Northwest.
