About this postcard
A red-brown wooden truss bridge on timber piers spans a calm channel, its reflection mirrored in the still water, with willows and other trees massed along the far bank and a canoe carrying a man and a woman with a parasol in the foreground. The caption names the spot as the bridge by the willows at Winona Lake, Indiana, a Chautauqua-style resort and camp-meeting center developed from the 1890s around the lake near Warsaw. The hand-tinted coloring and full-bleed layout are typical of the inexpensive view cards sold to resort visitors in the first decade of the twentieth century.
