About this postcard
A wooden truss bridge on timber piers crosses a calm channel at Winona Lake, Indiana, its reflection visible in the still water. Willows and other trees crowd the far bank, and a canoe carrying a man and a woman with a parasol passes in the foreground. The caption names the spot simply as the bridge by the willows. Winona Lake was a Chautauqua and camp-meeting center near Warsaw, Indiana, where summer visitors came for lectures, music, and outdoor recreation. Canoeing on the lake was a standard part of a day there, and the bridge and willows were among the spots that appeared on local view cards sold to those visitors.
