The view looks across the upper rapids of the Niagara River toward the crest of the American Falls, with the wooded shore of Goat Island and a small frame building on the brink beyond. The American Falls drop about 176 feet over a pile of fallen rock at their base. By 1916 the surrounding Niagara Reservation was a state park, and trolley and rail lines brought sightseers to the falls. The sender's note reports a trip going well and good news of the children.
