About this postcard

The view looks across the upper rapids of the Niagara River toward the crest of the American Falls, with the wooded Goat Island shore and a small frame building on the brink beyond. The American Falls carry the Niagara River over a straight 176-foot drop of rock debris at the falls' base, and by the early 20th century the surrounding reservation was a heavily visited state park served by trolley and rail. Halftone printing gives the rushing water its grainy texture.
