A carved stone panel in the entrance hall of Yale University's Sterling Memorial Library shows soldiers in eighteenth-century uniforms. The relief commemorates the British invasion of New Haven in 1779, when British forces under Gen. William Tryon raided the city during the Revolutionary War. It is one of the historical carvings in the Collegiate Gothic library, completed in 1930.
