Broadway looking north, Oklahoma City, OK, 1908

About this postcard

An elevated view looking north along Broadway in Oklahoma City, with brick and stone commercial blocks lining both sides of the wide unpaved street, awnings over the sidewalks, pedestrians on the corners, and a streetcar on the tracks running up the center of the roadway. Broadway was the young city's principal commercial thoroughfare in the years after the 1889 Land Run, and the scene shows the multi-story blocks and trolley line that made it the retail and business spine of early twentieth-century Oklahoma City.
