About this postcard

A tree-lined promenade in Broadway Park, Wellsville, Ohio, with a small ornamental fountain or monument at the center of the walk and two children standing on the grass beside it. Rows of young shade trees flank the unpaved drives, and utility poles recede toward the horizon under a cloudy sky. Wellsville, on the Ohio River in Columbiana County, was an industrial river town whose parks offered shaded walks of this kind in the early 20th century.
