About this postcard
A row of small white frame cottages with gabled roofs stands among tall, slender trees at Brooks Lodge & Cottages on the east side of Long Lake near Alpena. The resort offered housekeeping cottages with showers by the week, month, or season, including two-bedroom units and a seven-bedroom cottage for large groups. Its roadside setting on U.S. 23 placed it in the northern Michigan lake country, where swimming, boating, fishing, tennis, shuffleboard, and live bait were part of the draw, along with bird, deer, and bear hunting in season. The lodge stayed open all year.
