Bruin Inn, North Cheyenne Canon, Colorado Springs, CO, 1907

About this postcard

A rustic log inn with a broad red roof and a railed veranda stands among tall pines in North Cheyenne Canon. A horse-drawn carriage or wagon is parked at the right, with boulders and brush in the foreground. Bruin Inn was a roadhouse and resort stop on the canyon road in North Cheyenne Canon Park, the mountainous city park southwest of Colorado Springs. In the early 1900s the canyon drew carriage parties and a growing number of automobile tourists from the city and nearby towns. Jennie and Willie wrote that they were having "a fine time" and would write again when they got home.
