About this postcard

A view across the water of the Potomac Park Basin toward the massive white Bureau of Engraving and Printing, with the Washington Monument rising at the left against a sunset sky and young trees along the near shore. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing, completed in 1914 on Raoul Wallenberg Place, produces U.S. paper currency, stamps and securities; the Tidal Basin setting and the card's linen texture point to the 1930s. The Washington Monument, finished in 1884, anchors the composition at left.
