The card pictures the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad's steel truss bridge over the Mississippi River at Burlington, Iowa, seen from a wooded bluff on the Iowa shore. The C.B.&Q. first spanned the river here in 1868, and the crossing shown is a later steel replacement of that pioneer bridge. Burlington was a major Mississippi River town and an important division point on the railroad.
