The C.P.R. Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, stands behind a lawn and flower beds, its ivy-covered walls and chateau-style roofs framed by trees. Automobiles are parked along a low stone wall in the foreground, a sign of motor traffic at a hotel built for the railway and steamship age. Canadian Pacific opened the hotel on Victoria's Inner Harbour in 1908 as one of its railway hotels.
White border; blue-toned real photo; printed caption and number on front.
No postmark, stamp, or address — back is unused except a dealer's pencil mark (RMLJ, $2.00). Divided-back card with heavy album-mount residue/glue stains across the surface. Publisher imprint along left edge: Published by The Coast Publishing Co., Vancouver, B.C. Front shows a white-bordered tinted photo captioned "C.P.R. Empress Hotel, Victoria, B.C. Canada." (series 201), with 1920s automobiles.
