Many canoes and people gathered on the water fill the Charles River at Waltham. A large boathouse stands on the right bank, and behind the riverfront rise the industrial buildings and smokestacks of the Waltham Watch Factory. The factory was a major watchmaking complex, and the river was a popular setting for canoeing and summer outings in the early 1900s.
White border; sepia-toned photograph; printed caption at bottom; series number (7).
No postmark, stamp, or handwriting present. Undivided back ('FOR CORRESPONDENCE ONLY' / 'FOR ADDRESS ONLY') with Art Nouveau lily design; faint, illegible printer's imprint line at bottom edge. Front is a sepia-tinted halftone with white border. Light soiling and foxing on card stock.
