About this postcard
A two-person canoe glides across a deep blue lake, seen through a screen of white birch trunks and dark spruce, with a bright yellow canoe pulled up on a grassy shore in the foreground. The card's own caption names the scene as Eagle River, Wisconsin, a town in Vilas County that calls itself the "Snowmobile Capital of the World" and has long been a center for fishing, canoeing and resort vacations among the lakes of Wisconsin's North Woods. Curt Teich of Chicago produced this view in its linen-finish era, when such brightly colored, textured cards were standard tourist souvenirs.
