About this postcard
The view shows Carnegie Hall at Lynchburg College, a three-story brick building with white trim, dormers, and three pedimented porticos carried on white columns. A lawn and large shade trees frame the front. Lynchburg College opened in 1903 under the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and its hilltop campus in Lynchburg took shape in the early 1900s. Carnegie Hall was among the early brick buildings that gave the school its formal collegiate look, and its name points to Andrew Carnegie, whose grants supported libraries and schools across the country in this era.
