A herd of red-and-white cattle is driven along a dirt path beside a stream by a herdsman in a dark coat and hat, with a low tree line and a pink-and-orange sunset sky behind them. The printed caption "Rustic Life, Getting Thirsty" frames the scene as a pastoral genre view of farm stock being taken to water. Such chromolithographed rural scenes were popular, inexpensive postcard subjects in the first decade of the twentieth century.
No white border; textured, pebbled paper surface typical of early chromolithograph cards; caption printed in red at upper left; light wear at corners and edges.
No postmark. Divided-back 'POST CARD' with inland-communication/address-only headings; oilograph printed in Saxony for M. Ettlinger & Co., London. Unused: no message, no address, no stamp.
