About this postcard
Two vignetted halftone views: at left a stone-arched spring opening set in a wooded hillside, the Cave Hot Spring; at right the monumental gateway of the Army and Navy Hospital reservation, with flanking towers, a central arch and a pavilion above. Hot Springs Reservation, set aside by Congress in 1832, was the first federally protected reservation in the United States and later became Hot Springs National Park; the grand entrance and the bathhouse row served the many visitors who came to take the thermal waters.
