About this postcard
The card looks up at the American Falls from the base of the gorge, with Bridal Veil Falls plunging on the right and the dark rock overhang of the Cave of the Winds at center; a wooden walkway with railings and a few tiny figures crosses the rocks in the foreground. The Cave of the Winds was a natural cavern behind Bridal Veil Falls that visitors could enter by guided tour from the 1840s until the overhang collapsed in 1954; the name now belongs to the wooden deck tour built beside the falls. The scene was among the most popular views sold at Niagara Falls in the early twentieth century.
