About this postcard
Centenary Methodist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, appears as a brick Romanesque Revival building with a tall corner tower, a smaller turreted cupola, round-arched windows, and a gabled entrance. Mature shade trees frame the view from a broad unpaved street, with a small figure near the side entrance. The church was part of Lynchburg's established downtown religious landscape, and its substantial masonry construction reflects the scale of urban church building in the period. Sallie M.'s message is a short family note to J. D. Jones in West Virginia, thanking him for a postal and mentioning a missed visit to Grandma and an uncle.
