About this postcard
A tinted view down Central Avenue in Far Rockaway, Long Island, with streetcar tracks running up the center of the unpaved road, horse-drawn wagons and carriages in the street, and pedestrians in early-1900s dress on the sidewalks. Storefronts line both sides, including a drug store with a striped awning on the left and a building marked "Vigilant Market" on the right. Far Rockaway was then a popular seaside resort and commercial center on the Rockaway peninsula in Queens, reached by the Long Island Rail Road.
