The central corridor of the New Hampshire Historical Society Building in Concord runs beneath a domed, paneled ceiling, with arched openings and a glazed double door at the far end. Two busts on pedestals flank the hall. The society, founded in 1823, is among the oldest state historical societies in the country, and this formal interior gave its library and collections a civic setting in the state capital.
