About this postcard
A corner view of the Central Library in Indianapolis shows a monumental stone building with a long Doric colonnade across the front and rows of tall rectangular windows along the side. A few pedestrians stand on the walk and lawn in the foreground. The library opened in 1917 as the main building of the Indianapolis Public Library system, designed by Paul Philippe Cret in a Greek Doric style. The sender, signing herself Brownie, writes of a full week and four speaking engagements on Sunday, including a request from the W.C.T.U. to speak at its county fair booth in Jackson, Michigan. The W.C.T.U. was a leading temperance organization in the early 1920s.
