Central View shows a gravel walk curving through McCulloch Park past a broad bed of canna-like foliage and shrubs. A tiered stone fountain and basin sit in the middle distance under tall shade trees. The park is named for Hugh McCulloch, a Fort Wayne banker who served as U.S. Secretary of the Treasury in the 1860s and again in the 1880s. By the early 20th century, city parks like this were kept as shaded promenade grounds with fountains and seasonal floral bedding.
