About this postcard

Two tall century plant stalks rise above dense shrubs and spiky agave leaves, with a conifer and hazy sky behind. The century plant, Agave americana, blooms only once after years of growth, sending up a massive flower stalk before the parent plant dies. In California it was widely grown as an ornamental and became a familiar sight in gardens and open ground.
