About this postcard
The chapel at St. Marys of the Woods stands above lawns and trees, with a tall central tower, arched windows, and a multi-story building attached; a statue on a pedestal faces the grounds. The site near Terre Haute was the motherhouse of the Sisters of Providence, founded by Mother Theodore Guerin, and the chapel served both the religious community and the college. The sender writes that she has been in the chapel and found it "simply beautiful," then asks after the ailing Sister Leonarda and reports that the sisters have been praying for her recovery.
