Chickadees and robins on a snowy branch, "Hearty Christmas Wishes," circa 1910

About this postcard

A chromolithographed Christmas greeting shows five small birds — blue-and-yellow tits or chickadees and reddish-breasted robins — clustered on a snow-dusted, broken branch against a pale blue winter sky. The greeting "Hearty Christmas Wishes" is printed in decorative Art Nouveau lettering at upper left. Such bird-and-bough designs were a staple of the golden age of holiday postcards, when German and American lithographers mass-produced millions of greetings for the Christmas mails.
