Child watering a flowering bush, California, circa 1910

About this postcard
A small child in a red cap, white shirt, red bow tie and green overalls holds a garden hose, sending a spray of water across a large bush covered in white and pink daisy-like flowers, with a hedge and trees behind. The printed line "California Winter's good enough for me" markets the scene as proof of the state's mild climate, a common theme in California promotional view cards of the early twentieth century. Such cards were sold as souvenirs and greetings, using cute children and blooming gardens to advertise the advantages of the West Coast.
