About this postcard
Two boys pull a girl seated in a sleigh through a snowy landscape, with a large hat or muff nearby and other figures in the background. Below the scene is the printed greeting "MERRY AS THE SLEIGH-BELLS MAY THY CHRISTMAS BE!" The image follows the style of late 19th-century Christmas cards, when publishers often paired snowy sleighing scenes with verse. Alma Ray sent the card from Cave City, Kentucky, to the Elmore family in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, in 1981, adding a short note apologizing for not writing sooner and wishing them a good Christmas.
