A hand-tinted studio portrait of four young Chinese children seated in a row on ornate carved wooden chairs, wearing traditional embroidered jackets, tunics and caps in green, yellow, blue and pink. The card is numbered 56 in a publisher's view series and was issued by Edward H. Mitchell of San Francisco, a prolific producer of Western and Pacific Coast view cards in the early 20th century. Such studio genre portraits of Chinese American children were popular souvenir subjects in the years around 1905.
